Carlos Baldomir, the former welterweight world champion, had a professional boxing career that spanned over two decades. He fought a total of 71 times, with 49 wins, 16 losses, and six draws to his name. With 15 knockout wins and two world titles under his belt, Baldomir left a lasting impression on the sport.

Baldomir made his professional debut against Carlos More in February 1993 when he was just 21 years old. He won his first three fights in a row, establishing himself as a contender in the welterweight division.

However, it wasn't until he was 34 years old that Baldomir had his first world title fight, facing Zab Judah for the welterweight WBC and The Ring titles in January 2006. Baldomir left the ring that day as the new welterweight champion of the world, winning via twelve round unanimous decision.

His victory over Judah was one of the highlights of his career, but it wasn't his only world title win. Baldomir went on to win two world titles in the welterweight division, making him one of the most successful boxers from Argentina.

One of Baldomir's most memorable fights was against Arturo Gatti, a Hall-of-Famer, on July 22, 2006. Baldomir won the fight via a 9th round TKO, becoming the new welterweight champion.

Baldomir's career was not without its losses, and he lost a total of sixteen fights throughout his career, with two of them being title bouts. His first loss was against Paulo Sanchez via 2nd round KO in May 1994. Despite his setbacks, Baldomir remained a formidable opponent in the ring.

One of the most devastating losses in Baldomir's career was against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in November 2006. Despite putting up a good fight, Baldomir ultimately lost via a twelve round unanimous decision.

Baldomir's last professional fight was against Andrey Meryasev on April 25, 2014, in a non-title bout. Unfortunately, he lost the fight via a ten round unanimous decision. After this fight, Baldomir retired from professional boxing with an impressive record of 49-16-6.

Baldomir's career was marked by impressive victories and tough losses, but his legacy in the sport is undeniable. His world title wins and notable victories against Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Jairo Jesus Siris, Gaston Vega, Hasan Al, and Verdell Smith demonstrate his skill and determination in the ring. Even in retirement, his impact on the sport continues to be felt.
