Jürgen Brähmer is a legendary boxer with over 20 years of experience in the ring. During this time, he fought a total of 55 professional fights, winning an impressive 52 of them while losing only 3. Brähmer's incredible career saw him win a total of 38 fights by KO and become a title holder in the super-middleweight and light-heavyweight divisions.
Born in 1978 in Stralsund, East Germany, Brähmer began pursuing boxing at a young age, and his hard work and dedication paid off when he made his professional debut in 1999. He won his first fight against Ramdane Kaouane via 4 round PTS, kicking off an incredible winning streak of 26 fights in a row, 22 of which ended in stoppages.
Brähmer's first world title fight came in 2008 against Hugo Garay, but unfortunately, he lost the bout to the Argentine via 12 round unanimous decision. However, he did not give up on his quest to become a world champion, and he eventually reached that goal when he won the WBO light-heavyweight title after defeating Dmitry Sukhotsky via unanimous decision in 2009. Brähmer successfully defended his title twice against Sukhotsky and Mariano Plotinsky before being stripped of his title by the WBO due to his withdrawal from a scheduled fight against Nathan Cleverly, citing an eye injury.
Brähmer's career continued to thrive, as he reclaimed the European title against Eduard Gutknecht in February 2013 before going on to win the WBA (Regular) light-heavyweight title in December of the same year. He went on to defend his title successfully against some of the top names in the division, including Enzo Maccarinelli, Roberto Bolonti, Paweł Głażewski, Robin Krasniqi, Konni Konrad, and Eduard Gutknecht in a rematch. Brähmer's reign as WBA champion came to an end in 2016 when he lost the title to Nathan Cleverly via RTD in the sixth round.
Despite his age, Brähmer continued to compete in the ring and was a formidable opponent right up until his retirement. His exceptional skills and experience were on full display in his final professional fight against Jürgen Doberstein on December 21, 2019, which he won via a seventh-round KO.
Throughout his career, Jürgen Brähmer proved himself to be one of the most skilled and successful boxers of his time. He embodied the qualities of an expert, authoritative, and trustworthy athlete, and his legacy in the sport will undoubtedly continue to inspire and motivate generations of boxers to come.
