O'Neil Bell was a Jamaican professional boxer who competed from 1998 to 2011. He was born on December 29, 1974, and tragically passed away on November 25, 2015, at the age of 40. Throughout his career, Bell won a total of five world titles at cruiserweight, including the unified cruiserweight world championship in 2006. His best fight and notable victory took place on January 7, 2006, when Bell beat Jean-Marc Mormeck via a 10th round KO, making him the IBF, WBA (Unified), WBC, and The Ring cruiserweight world-champion belts holder.
Despite his successes, Bell had four losses in his professional boxing career. His first loss came via 4th round KO against Mahamed Benguesmia on April 11, 1998. One of his losses was in a title bout, with the other three coming in non-title bouts.
On December 17, 2011, Bell had his last professional fight against Rico Cason at 36 years of age. He won the fight via 1st round TKO, bringing his career to a victorious end.
Bell's climb to the top in his division despite a loss in his second fight against Algerian amateur star (M. Benguesima) is a testament to his skill and determination. He defeated former IBF champion Arthur Williams twice by TKO and climbed the rankings
The boxer's professional boxing record includes notable victories over Ka-Dy King, Eric Davis, Ezra Sellers, Sebastiaan Rothmann, and Rico Cason. Despite his accomplishments, Bell faced adversity both in and out of the ring, with injuries and time out of the sport contributing to his retirement at the age of 36.
In conclusion, O'Neil Bell was an excellent boxer who fought his way to the top of his division. He may have had his fair share of losses, but he made up for it with his impressive wins and multiple world titles. Bell's fighting style, combined with his resilience and determination, created a unique legacy in the sport that resonates to this day.
