Ray Beltrán has become one of the most respected names in boxing history, with a career spanning over two decades. Born on July 23, 1981, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, Beltrán made his professional boxing debut at the age of 17, fighting against Victor Manuel Mendoza in July of 1999. He won the fight via 4 round unanimous decision, setting the stage for his future success.
Over the course of his 48 professional fights, Beltrán has achieved a record of 36 wins, 10 losses, 1 draw, and no contests. Out of his 36 wins, 22 were knockout victories. He has won two world titles at two different weight classes, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest boxers of his time.
Beltrán achieved his first world title at the age of 21 after just 11 professional fights on October 1, 2002. He fought against Carlos Diaz for the featherweight WBC (vacant) title, and he managed to defeat Diaz via 2nd round TKO. This win made him the featherweight champion of the world, and it marked the beginning of a remarkable journey for the young boxer.
Despite winning two world titles, Beltrán has never defended his titles. However, he has had many notable victories in his career, including wins over Carlos Diaz, Jonathan Maicelo, Carlos Vinan, Baudel Cardenas, Jose Montes, Ivan Najera, and Joel Yocupicio. These victories showcase the level of skill that Beltrán possesses and the dedication that he has shown to his craft.
Unfortunately, Beltrán has also experienced defeats as part of his career. He has suffered a total of 10 losses, with two of them in title bouts and eight in non-title bouts. His first loss was against Victor Manuel Mendoza via 4 round split-decision on December 4, 1999. He has been stopped three times, and he has lost seven times via decision.
Beltrán's most recent fight was a non-title bout against Cesar Francis on July 9, 2022. He lost the fight via 10 round unanimous decision, marking his one-fight losing streak. However, Beltrán remains an inspiration to many up and coming boxers, and his skill and dedication to the sport remain a shining example of what can be achieved with hard work and perseverance.
Beltrán's career highlights are numerous, but his victory against Carlos Diaz on October 1, 2002, stands out as the most significant. This was the day that Beltrán won his first world title, and it was a moment that cemented his place in the annals of boxing history.
Throughout his career, Ray Beltrán has proven himself to be a true champion, both inside and outside of the ring. His dedication to the sport and his incredible work ethic have made him an inspiration to anyone who loves boxing, and he will undoubtedly continue to be one of the most respected figures in the sport for many years to come.
