Wanheng Menayothin, born on October 6, 1985, is a Thai professional boxer who has been unbeaten in his first 54 fights, making him one of the most dominant boxers in the sport. Over the course of his career, Menayothin has faced 59 opponents and has recorded 55 wins and 3 losses, with zero draws or no-contests. He has also won 19 of his fights via knockout.
Menayothin made his professional boxing debut on January 26, 2007, at the age of 21, against Roel Gade, whom he defeated via a six-round unanimous decision. His win over Gade would be the first of 53 consecutive victories, which included 18 wins via stoppage.
Menayothin had his first world title fight, against Oswaldo Novoa for the strawweight WBC title, on November 6, 2014, after 35 professional fights. He defeated Novoa via a 9th round RTD to become the strawweight champion of the world. Menayothin has won one world title at strawweight, and he has defended his title 12 times in total, with five of those wins coming via knockout.
Some of Menayothin's best fights and notable victories include wins over Leroy Estrada, Go Odaira, Edo Anggoro, Ardi Buyung, Oswaldo Novoa, Young Gil Bae, and Melvin Jerusalem.
Although Menayothin was one of the most dominant boxers in the sport, he suffered his first career defeat against Panya Pradabsri on November 27, 2020, via a 12-round unanimous decision, which ended his 54-fight win streak. However, it's worth noting that Menayothin has never been stopped, as all his losses have come via a decision.
Menayothin's most recent fight was on July 20, 2022, against his fellow Thai boxer Knockout CP Freshmart for Freshmart's strawweight WBA (Super) title. Unfortunately, Menayothin lost the fight via a 12-round unanimous decision, which marked his second consecutive loss.
Overall, Wanheng Menayothin is a boxer with an impressive record, having won over 90% of his fights, with 19 of those wins coming via knockout. Although he's faced setbacks in his most recent fights, Menayothin remains one of the top boxers in the strawweight division, and fans can expect to see him continue to compete at the highest level of the sport for years to come.
