He finally earned a quota spot for the 2016 Summer Olympics by taking a bronze medal at the 2016 European Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Samsun, Turkey.
Professional Career
Demirezen made his professional boxing debut against Patryk Kowoll on October 15, 2016, at the G 18-Halle in Hamburg, Germany. He held the WBO European heavyweight title from 2018 to 2019, after he won the vacant WBO European heavyweight title against Rad Rashid on March 24th, 2018, then retained this title through a TKO victory against Sergiej Werwejko.
On July 20th, 2019, Demirezen suffered his first loss against Efe Ajagba via a 10 round unanimous decision, which ended his 11-fight win streak. Ajagba is the only boxer to beat Demirezen so far. Demirezen's most recent fight took place on July 30th, 2022, in a non-title bout against Polish boxer Adam Kownacki at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight went the distance, and Demirezen won via a 10 round unanimous decision.
