He is known for his orthodox stance and successful boxing career, which lasted over 9 years from 2010 to 2019.
Jennings had an impressive record of 24 wins, four losses, and no draws or no-contests. Out of his 24 victories, 14 were won via knockout, showcasing his power as a heavyweight boxer. He did not have any title wins nor defended any titles, but he did challenge once for the unified world heavyweight title in 2015 and WBA interim heavyweight title that same year.
Jennings began his professional boxing career at the age of 25 on February 26, 2010, defeating Zeferino Albino via 4 round unanimous decision. He won 18 more consecutive fights after his debut, which included 10 wins via stoppage. In his 19th professional fight, he faced off against legendary boxer Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, which marked his first world title fight. Although he lost to Klitschko via 12 round unanimous decision, he remained a formidable opponent in the boxing world, with memorable victories over other accomplished boxers such as Siarhei Liakhovich, Mike Perez, Artur Szpilka, Akhror Muralimov, Daniel Martz, Don Haynesworth, and Alexander Dimitrenko.
Throughout his career, Jennings suffered a total of four losses, with one of them being in a title bout and three in non-title bouts. He suffered his first loss against Klitschko, which ended his 19-fight win streak. Jennings has been stopped twice and lost twice via decision.
Jennings had his last professional fight against British boxer Joe Joyce on July 13, 2019. He lost the fight via 12 round unanimous decision. It has been almost four years since his last professional fight, and Jennings retired from professional boxing with a record of 24-4, which included 14 knockout wins and two losses via knockout.
In his early career, Jennings won his debut fight against Albino via unanimous decision over four rounds. He went on to knock out Jon Bolden in three rounds and then rematched Albino on April 30 of the same year, defeating him with a first-round knockout. Jennings went on to beat Bernell Stewart and Randy Smith in 2010.
In 2011, Jennings fought Theron Johnson in his first fight of the year, beating him via unanimous decision. He then fought David Williams, who he knocked out in two rounds. The rest of the year saw Jennings rack up wins against opponents such as Mike Miller, Theron Johnson, Alexis Mejias, and Kevin Franklin.
Jennings' first fight of 2012 was against Maurice Byarm. He won the bout by unanimous decision, claiming the Pennsylvania State heavyweight title. He then faced former WBO heavyweight champion Siarhei Liakhovich on March 24, 2012. Jennings controlled the fight with his jab and power punches and won the fight after Liakhovich retired at the end of round nine. He faced Steve Collins (25-1) on June 16, 2012, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and won by unanimous decision after ten rounds to claim the USBA heavyweight title. Jennings went on to fight two more times in 2012, knocking out Chris Koval in 35 seconds and stopping Bowie Tupou in five rounds to retain his USBA heavyweight title.
He fought once in 2013, stopping Andrey Fedosov in six rounds after Fedosov did not come out for the seventh. In 2014, Jennings fought Polish heavyweight Artur Szpilka and knocked him out in the tenth round. Later that year, he beat highly ranked contender Mike Perez by a close fought split decision to earn a title shot as No.1 ranked contender and mandatory challenger for the WBC title.
Jennings later signed with promoters Gary Shaw and Antonio Leonard after buying out his existing agreement with Russell Peltz in his pursuit of a world title. On April 25, 2015, Jennings faced heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, The Ring, and lineal heavyweight titles. Although he lost, he gave it his all in the ring and in the words of Klitschko himself, the fight proved to be one of his hardest fights in years.
After not fighting for over a year following his loss to Luis Ortiz, Jennings signed with Top Rank and made his comeback to the ring on August 19, 2017 against journeyman Daniel Martz at the undercard of Terence Crawford vs. Julius Indongo. He knocked out Martz in the second round. He went on to have several more fights throughout 2017 and 2018, including victories over Don Haynesworth, Akhror Muralimov, Alexander Dimitrenko, and Joey Dawejko.
Jennings' last defeat came at the hands of Joe Joyce in July 2019, in which he lost via unanimous decision. Despite his retirement from professional boxing, Jennings continues to be remembered as a fierce competitor in the heavyweight division with an impressive record and noteworthy victories. His dedication to the sport, power in the ring, and ability to come back after defeat make him a respected athlete in the boxing community.
