Curtis Delroy Stevens, also known as Showtime and Cerebral Assassin among fans, is a former professional boxer from the United States. Born on March 10, 1985, in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York, he began his professional boxing career on September 30, 2004, against Henry Dukes, whom he knocked out in the first round.
Over the years, Stevens had a total of 38 fights, winning 30, losing 8, with no draws or no-contests. Out of the 30 victories, 22 were knockout wins, while out of the 8 losses, 4 were losses via knockout. He participated in the weight classes of Middleweight, Super middleweight, and Light heavyweight and stands at a height of 5 ft 7 in (170 cm) with a reach of 71+1⁄2 in (182 cm). His last fight was a non-title bout against Joshua Conley on March 24, 2022, which he lost via a 6-round unanimous decision.
Throughout his career, Stevens had notable victories over Patrick Teixeira, Patrick Majewski, Tureano Johnson, Elvin Ayala, Saúl Román, and Piotr Wilczewski. However, he also suffered significant losses – four via knockout and four via decision.
After twenty-eight professional fights, Curtis Stevens received his first world title opportunity at the age of 28 on November 2, 2013, against Gennadiy Golovkin for the WBA and IBO middleweight titles. In what was touted as an anticipated match-up between two formidable knockout artists, Stevens was knocked down in the second round, and he retired in his corner by the end of the eighth round.
In 2017, Stevens fought David Lemieux, which turned out to be a brutal slugfest, but it was Lemieux who scored a one-punch knockout in the third round. Stevens was taken out of the ring on a stretcher and hospitalized overnight.
Stevens has also suffered some losses that overshadowed his victories, such as his match against Carlos Jairo Cruz, where he secured a win by stopping his opponent at the end of the fourth round, but the crowd charged in the ring and attacked Stevens and his team upon the announcement.
In his following fight, Stevens fought Wale Omotoso, his first fight after stepping down to 154 pounds. The change in weight didn't seem to help Stevens much, who got dropped three times and stopped by Omotoso. Stevens managed to beat the count of the last knockdown, but he did not look steady on his feet, which prompted the referee to end the fight.
Despite suffering some losses in his career, Stevens remained a formidable opponent and a force to be reckoned with in the ring. His style of boxing was described as aggressive, and he often relied on his punching power to secure victories.
Outside the ring, Stevens had a friendly and affable personality that endeared him to fans and fellow boxers alike. His dedication and passion for the sport were evident in every fight, and he was always ready to give his best.
Although he is no longer an active boxer, Curtis Stevens' contributions to the sport remain significant, and his legacy as a formidable opponent remains ingrained in the hearts of boxing fans worldwide.
