Jesús Chávez was a professional boxer who had a successful career spanning over 16 years from 1994 to 2010. Over the course of his career, he fought a total of 52 fights, out of which he won 44, lost 8 and did not draw or have any no-contests. He had an impressive knockout record, winning 30 fights by KO. Chávez also won two world titles at two weight classes, a notable accomplishment.
His career started on a high note with his professional debut at the age of 21. He defeated Lewis Wood via 4 round unanimous decision and went on to win three more consecutive fights, two of which were stopped. Chávez then had his first world title fight at the age of 28 on November 10, 2001, against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Although Chávez lost the fight in the 9th round due to RTD, it was a significant milestone in his career.
A highlight of Chávez's career was on August 15, 2003, when he won the WBC super-featherweight title from Sirimongkol Singwancha. Chávez won the fight via 12 round unanimous decision, showcasing his prowess in the ring. Unfortunately, his success was short-lived as he lost the title to Erik Morales via 12 round unanimous decision in February 2004.
Despite having eight losses throughout his career, three of them were title bouts, while the other five were non-title fights. Chávez's first loss was against Carlos Gerena via 8 round split-decision on January 7, 1995. Out of the eight losses, he was stopped four times and lost via decision four times.
Chávez's career was filled with notable victories, including wins over Hall-of-Famer Tom Johnson, Gerardo Zayas, Julio Sánchez León, Leavander Johnson, Johnny Walker, and Sirimongkol Singwancha. These wins showcased his fighting abilities and contributed to his successful career.
Chávez's last fight was a non-title bout against Venezuelan boxer Jorge Linares on October 24, 2010. Unfortunately, he lost the fight via 4th round RTD.
Chávez's record of 44-8, which includes 30 knockout wins and four losses via knockout, is an impressive feat. He retired from professional boxing with two title wins, showing his dedication and passion for the sport.
