John John Molina was a professional boxer whose illustrious career spanned over 15 years from 1986 to 2001. Molina, who was born on June 22, 1965, in Covina, California, began his professional career at the age of 20. He made his debut against Job Walters on February 25, 1986, where he secured a 4 round majority decision win against Walters. Molina went on to build an impressive record of 13 wins, including 9 knockout victories.
Molina's first world title fight was against Tony Lopez for the IBF super-featherweight title on October 27, 1988. Unfortunately, Molina lost the fight via unanimous decision, his first loss in his professional career. However, Molina would go on to secure four world titles at super-featherweight, defending those titles eight times.
Some of Molina's best fights and notable victories include wins over Fernando Caicedo, Floyd Havard, Tony Lopez, Juan Carlos Suarez, Joey Negron, Eduardo Perez, and Elias Quiroz. Molina was known for his knockout power, securing 33 knockout wins in his professional career. He won his first world title, the WBO super-featherweight title, against Juan Laporte via unanimous decision on April 29, 1989. Molina also won the IBF super-featherweight title on two occasions, first against Tony Lopez via TKO on October 7, 1989, and then defending it against Fernando Caicedo via TKO on August 22, 1992.
Molina suffered his first loss against Lupe Suarez via 9th round TKO on May 24, 1987. Suarez ended Molina's 14-fight win streak. John John Molina was stopped three times in his professional career and lost four times via decision. His last professional fight was a non-title bout against Juan Lazcano on May 5, 2001, where he lost via 11th round TKO.
Molina's career highlights include his four world title wins; however, his crowning moment came when he won the WBO super-featherweight title from Juan Laporte via unanimous decision on April 29, 1989.
