Juan Laporte, a professional boxer with over 20 years of experience in the ring, has left an indelible mark on the sport. With a record of 40 wins, 16 losses, 1 draw, and 22 KO wins, Laporte has proved himself a formidable opponent throughout his career.

Laporte made his professional debut on October 29, 1977, at just 17 years old. He won his first fight against Johnny Green via 1st round TKO and went on to win three consecutive fights, including one win via stoppage.

After 16 professional fights, Laporte had his first world title fight at the age of 21 on December 13, 1980, against Salvador Sanchez for the WBC title. He lost the fight via 15 round unanimous decision but showed his mettle in stepping up to fight for the world title at such a young age.

Laporte's first world title win came in September 15, 1982, when he defeated Mario Miranda for the WBC featherweight title by beating Miranda via 10th round RTD. Laporte won the title in convincing fashion, showing why he was considered one of the best featherweights of his time.

Throughout his career, Laporte faced some of the toughest competition in the sport, including Wilfredo Gomez and Julio Cesar Chavez. In a fight for the WBC featherweight title on March 31, 1984, Laporte lost to Gomez via 12 round unanimous decision. In another world title fight on December 12, 1986, Laporte lost to the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez via 12 round unanimous decision.

He recorded a total of 57 fights, with eight losses in title bouts and eight in non-title bouts. Laporte suffered his first loss against Jose Rodriguez via 6 round PTS on May 27, 1978. He was stopped once in his career and lost 15 times via decision.

Laporte's career highlights include some of boxing's most iconic fights. One such fight was his first world-title fight against Salvador Sanchez on December 13, 1980, where he lost via a 15-round unanimous decision.
