Leslie Stewart is a former professional boxer who has had a successful career in the ring that spanned over 17 years and saw him compete in a total of 43 fights. Out of those 43 fights, he won 31, lost 12, and had no draws or no-contests. Among his victories, 20 came by way of knockout, while he suffered 6 knockout losses in his career.
Stewart started his professional boxing career at the age of 20 when he won his debut fight against Michael Hospadales via a 4th round TKO on January 29, 1982. He then went on to win 17 consecutive fights after his debut, with 11 of those wins coming by way of stoppage.
Stewart had his first world-title fight against Marvin Johnson for the WBA title on February 9, 1986, at the age of 24. Unfortunately, he lost the fight via a 7th round TKO. However, he bounced back from the loss and went on to achieve some notable victories against top contenders like Bobby Thomas, Tyrone Bledsoe, Fulgencio Obelmejias, Ken McCurdy, and Uriah Grant.
One of Stewart's career highlights was on May 23, 1987, when he won the WBA light-heavyweight title from Marvin Johnson in a rematch fight. In the fight, Stewart managed to beat Johnson via 8th round RTD, establishing himself as one of the top light-heavyweight boxers of his generation.
Stewart retired from professional boxing with a record of 31-12, which included one world-title win and zero title defenses. During his career, he fought in a total of 43 fights, with three fights standing out as the highlights of his career.
The first of those three fights was his first world-title fight against Marvin Johnson on February 9, 1986, where he unfortunately lost via a 7th round TKO. The second was his victory against Fulgencio Obelmejias on November 16, 1986, where he won via a 4th round TKO. The third and most significant of those fights was his win against Marvin Johnson in the WBA light-heavyweight title fight on May 23, 1987, where he secured the title via an 8th round RTD.
