Marco Antonio Rubio is a former professional boxer from Mexico who had a successful boxing career spanning over 15 years from 2000 to 2015. During his career, he amassed a record of 59-8-1 with 51 of his victories coming by way of knockout. Rubio was born on June 16, 1980, in Torreón, Mexico, and he is also known by his nickname "El Veneno," which means "The Poison."
Rubio's professional boxing career began on May 17, 2000, when he made his debut against Alberto Juarez at the age of 19. Rubio won the fight via 4 round PTS. He went on to win his next five consecutive fights, all of which ended in stoppages.
Throughout his career, Rubio fought in three different weight classes: light middleweight, middleweight, and super middleweight, and he was an exciting fighter to watch. In the sixth round, Rubio started to land harder punches, and in the seventh round, he knocked Lemieux down. Rubio's last professional fight was a non-title bout against American boxer Anthony Dirrell on September 6, 2015. Rubio lost the fight via a 10 round unanimous decision. It's been over seven years since this fight, and Rubio has since retired from professional boxing.
Throughout his career, Rubio suffered eight losses, with three of them coming in title bouts and five in non-title bouts. He suffered his first loss against Saúl Román via 2nd round TKO on June 1, 2001. Rubio was stopped four times in his career and lost four times via decision.
