Marlon Tapales is one of the talented Filipino boxers who has made a name for himself both in his homeland and on the global stage. With 36 wins, 18 of them coming by knockout, and only three losses, Tapales has proven himself to be a formidable opponent in the ring throughout his career. Let's take a closer look at the career of Marlon Tapales.
Talented enough to make his professional debut at the tender age of 16, Tapales began his journey on July 18, 2008, against Nestor Gamolo, whom he defeated via 1st round TKO. He went on to win 7 more consecutive fights after the debut, including 1 win via stoppage, setting him up for further success in a field where many fail to make a name for themselves.
He participated in his first world title fight in July 2016 at the age of 24, after 30 professional fights, against Pungluang Sor Singyu for the bantamweight WBO title. Marlon was able to defeat Singyu via 11th round knockout, earning him the prestigious bantamweight world champion title.
Marlon's most notable fights include wins against Hiroaki Teshigawara, Fernando Vargas Parra, Roberto Castaneda, Jose Estrella, Eden Sonsona, Goodluck Mrema, and Shohei Omori. These victories propelled him to further prominence, making him one of the most promising fighters in the bantamweight category of the sport.
Although he has had a successful professional boxing career, Tapales has also had his fair share of losses. Marlon has lost three fights in his career so far, all of which happened outside the world title bouts. His first loss came at the hands of Brix Ray via 6th round RTD back in May of 2009. He's lost via decision in one fight and been stopped two times, leading his fans to wonder what the cause of the losses might be.
His most recent fight took place on May 14, 2022, in a non-title bout against Jose Estrella. Marlon emerged victorious after knocking out his opponent in the second round. It's been over 10 months since that fight, and Tapales continues to train hard and make plans for his next bout that is scheduled to occur in April 2023 against Murodjon Akhmadaliev.
Tapales has managed to win one world title at bantamweight so far, providing him with a tremendous amount of professional satisfaction. It is notable, however, that Tapales has not yet had any title defenses, and it will be exciting to see how he performs in the future, particularly if he manages to win additional world titles and defends them successfully.
Marlon Tapales may not have an undefeated record, but he has a passion and dedication to his craft that has earned him much respect and admiration from boxing fans worldwide. He is a competitor who will test the best of the best and his opponents are aware of his prowess in the ring. As always, there is great anticipation and interest in the next chapter of Tapales' career.
As a consummate boxer, Tapales has demonstrated his expertise in the sport of boxing. He has also shown his authoritativeness and trustworthiness worldwide, as evidenced by his bantamweight world champion title. With every fight, he brings viewers to the edge of their seats, leaving no doubt about his place in the world of boxing. He has demonstrated that he is a fighter with immense potential, and we can't wait to see what he achieves next.
