Martin Murray is a former British professional boxer, born on September 27, 1982, in St. Helens, Merseyside, England. He had a successful career that spanned 13 years from 2007 to 2020. During that time, he fought in 46 professional boxing bouts achieving a record of 39-6-1 with 17 wins through knockouts.

Murray made his professional boxing debut on September 22, 2007, against Jamie Ambler, and won the match via 6 round PTS at the Robin Park Arena in Wigan, UK. Following his debut victory, Murray went on a 22 fight unbeaten streak, which spanned over three years, included ten knockouts, and took his record to an impressive 23-0-0.

On December 2, 2011, at the age of 29, Murray had his first world title fight against Felix Sturm, with the WBA (Super) title on the line. The fight ended in a split-decision draw, and Murray had the first of his five world title attempts.

Two years later, on April 27, 2013, he faced Sergio Martinez for the WBC and The Ring middleweight titles. Despite the Argentine being a very tough opponent, Murray put up a good fight and went the full 12 rounds. In the end, however, Martinez won by a unanimous decision, earning Murray his first professional loss.

During his career, Murray faced some of the best boxers in the world, including Gennady Golovkin, Arthur Abraham, and George Groves.

In his fight against Golovkin in February 2015, Murray showed great courage and resilience but ultimately succumbed to the Kazakh's power, losing via TKO in the 11th round. In November 2015, Murray returned to the ring, competing at super-middleweight for the first time in his career. He won his next three fights, including one against former champion Arthur Abraham in which he gave an excellent performance.

Murray's last professional fight was on December 4, 2020, against fellow British boxer Billy Joe Saunders for Saunders' super-middleweight WBO title. Murray lost the fight via unanimous decision as he announced his retirement from the sport with a 39-6-1 record.

Despite never winning a world title, Murray had an impressive career and was renowned for being a tough opponent who always put on an excellent display in the ring. His professional success is also a source of inspiration to many aspiring boxers.

Murray's record speaks for itself, and it is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport. His professional boxing journey is full of highlights, including 39 victories with 17 knockouts, 4 Commonwealth and 1 WBC Silver belt fights. The man from St. Helens will also be remembered for his courage in the ring and his never-say-die attitude, making him a force to be reckoned with.

Overall Murray is a true boxing hero and a living legend in his own right. His performances in the ring and his character outside it are an inspiration to fans and aspiring boxers across the world. His professional career has been an exciting journey from start to finish, and he will always be remembered as one of the greatest British boxers.
