Maxwell Awuku is a Ghanaian professional boxer with an impressive career spanning over two decades. With a record of 48 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw, he has firmly cemented his place in the sport.
Born on April 29, 1983, in Accra, Ghana, Awuku began his career at the age of 19 with a victory over John Larbi on November 9, 2002, via 2nd round TKO. Since then, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the most formidable boxers from Ghana.
Awuku has won 33 of his fights by knockout, showcasing his immense punching power. He has fought in a total of 54 professional bouts, which include wins over prominent boxers such as Abdul Malik Jabir, Richard Amenfu, Mouibi Sarouna, and Lehlo Ledwaba. These victories have helped him rise up the ranks and earn a reputation as a skilled and formidable opponent.
Although Awuku has not won any world titles or successfully defended any titles, he did have his first world title opportunity against Miguel Berchelt on February 10, 2018, for the WBC title. Unfortunately, Awuku lost the fight to Berchelt via 3rd round TKO.
Despite this loss, Awuku's record speaks for itself. He has only lost two fights via knockout - both in non-title bouts - and three fights via decision. His most recent bout was on December 24, 2021, against Moses Dodzi, which he won via unanimous decision, pushing his winning streak to two fights.
Awuku's fighting style is predicated on power and aggression, which has been evident in his victories. His punches come fast and hard, and his opponent often struggles to keep up with his intensity. His ability to mix up his shots with an array of punches and body shots make him difficult to defend against. It is this combination of skill, power, and aggression that makes him such an electrifying fighter to watch.
All in all, Maxwell Awuku is a veteran of the sport who has amassed a remarkable record over his two-decade career. He may not have won any world titles, but his achievements in the ring and his reputation as a powerful striker cannot be disputed.
Boxing fans worldwide eagerly await his next match to see if he can continue to add to his impressive resume and rise to even greater heights.
