Moorer went on to defend his WBO title against Victor Claudio, Freddie Delgado, Jeff Thompson, and Mario Oscar Melo.
However, Moorer's most significant achievement during his career was becoming a unified heavyweight world champion. He accomplished this feat on April 22, 1994, by beating the legendary Evander Holyfield in a 12-round majority decision. Moorer held the WBA and IBF heavyweight world-champion belts, cementing himself as one of the best in the business.
Throughout his career, Moorer fought some remarkable battles, including his victory against Vassiliy Jirov on December 9, 2004. He won that fight via 9th round TKO, showcasing his incredible skill in the ring. Moorer is also famous for his wins over boxing Hall-of-Famer Evander Holyfield, Mario Oscar Melo, Jeff Thompson, Freddie Delgado, Mike Sedillo, Billy Wright, and James Pritchard, amongst others.
While Moorer's career had many highlights, he also suffered some defeats. Moorer faced his first loss on November 5, 1994, against George Foreman via 10th round KO after an impressive 35-fight win streak. He endured two more defeats in title bouts and one in a non-title bout, all of which are described in detail in "All of Michael Moorer's losses."
Moorer retired from professional boxing with a record of 52-4-1, including an astounding 40 knockouts, three knockout losses, and five world titles. His last non-title bout against Shelby Gross on February 8, 2008, resulted in a 1st round KO win.
Throughout his career, Moorer's accomplishments and performance have established him as one of boxing's best. His achievements continue to be celebrated, and his name will forever be remembered amongst the greats of the sport.
