Mitch Green, also known as "Blood," is a former American professional boxer who fought in the heavyweight division from 1980 to 2005. Throughout his career, Green amassed a record of 19 wins, 6 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no-contest, with 12 of his wins coming by way of knockout. Although he never won a world title, Green was known for his tough, durable style and had some notable wins against fighters like Floyd Cummings, Lynwood Jones, and Sammy Scaff.

Green was born on January 13, 1957, in Augusta, Georgia, and turned professional in 1980 after signing a contract with Shelly Finkel, a prominent rock promoter. He was part of Finkel's stable of young fighters, which included future world champions like Alex Ramos, Tony Ayala Jr., Donald Curry, and Johnny Bumphus. Green quickly made a name for himself in the heavyweight division, winning his first 16 fights in a row, including a victory over the tough Floyd "Jumbo" Cummings in 1983.

Despite his early success, Green suffered his first defeat in 1985 when he lost a 12-round decision to Trevor Berbick in a bid for the United States Boxing Association title. Green rebounded from the loss with wins over Percell Davis and Young Louis before facing off against Mike Tyson in 1986. Green had complained bitterly about the pay disparity between him and Tyson before the fight, but he put up a tough showing despite losing a lopsided decision over 10 rounds. Notably, Green managed to knock out one of Tyson's gold teeth during the fight.

Green's rivalry with Tyson continued outside the ring, as the two got into a physical altercation in 1988 outside a Harlem clothing store. Green allegedly demanded a rematch with Tyson and threw a punch, but Tyson responded by hitting Green and causing him to need stitches on his nose. While Green later won a lawsuit against Tyson, he was left with substantial legal fees and remained embroiled in legal and personal troubles throughout the rest of his career.

Despite his struggles, Green sporadically returned to the ring throughout the 1990s and 2000s. He won the World Boxing Empire Super-Heavyweight Title in 2002 with a 12-round decision over Danny Wofford and was named the Universal Boxing Organization Heavyweight Champion in 2005. However, he never defended either title and retired from professional boxing later that year after a fourth-round knockout win over Billy Mitchem.

While Green's professional record is not among the most impressive in boxing history, his toughness and fighting spirit earned him the respect of fans and fellow fighters alike. He remains a memorable figure in the sport and a testament to the dedication required to compete at the highest levels of professional boxing.
