Ricky Hatton, a notable British boxer, had a professional career lasting over 15 years, from 1997 to 2012. Throughout his career, he participated in a total of 48 fights, winning 45 and losing only 3 matches. Ricky Hatton emerged victorious in 32 fights via knockouts, and he had zero draws and no contests.
Throughout his career, Hatton won a total of five world titles in two different weight categories. Additionally, he successfully defended all five titles during his reign. Out of his five title wins, four of those were secured by knockouts. Ricky Hatton's IPF, The Ring, and WBA super-lightweight world-champion belts were won on November 26, 2005, after he defeated Carlos Maussa via 9th round KO, June 4, 2005, and June 23, 2007, following wins over Kostya Tszyu via 11th round RTD, and José Luis Castillo via 4th round KO, respectively. Furthermore, Hatton won the WBA welterweight world title on May 13, 2006, after emerging victorious over Luis Collazo via 12 round unanimous decision. Finally, on January 20, 2007, Hatton won his fifth world title, defeating Juan Urango via 12 round unanimous decision.
Ricky Hatton dominated some of the best-known names within the sport throughout his professional career. Among the notable victories during his career was a brutal win over the Hall-of-Famer Kostya Tszyu. He also went on to beat José Luis Castillo, Paulie Malignaggi, Carlos Maussa, Luis Collazo, and Tony Pep.
The first loss Ricky Hatton experienced was against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on December 8, 2007, via 10th round TKO. This loss ended Hatton's 43-fight winning streak. Unfortunately, Ricky Hatton's two other losses during his career were also via knockouts. However, the Brit should be proud of his impressive career record with 45 victories from 48 fights, including 32 wins via knockout.
Following two years of retirement, Ricky Hatton returned to the ring for a non-title fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko on November 24, 2012. Unfortunately, Hatton suffered his last loss, his third via knockout. He retired from the sport immediately after the loss, achieving an impressive 45-3 record.
Hatton's career, including his total knockout wins and world titles, illustrated a brilliant fighting style that profoundly contributed to his success. Chants of "there's only one Ricky Hatton" from the local fans, who adored him so passionately, greeted him in every fight. His contributions and legacies will forever be remembered as a phenomenal fighter.
