Roberto Carlos Leyva was a professional boxer from Mexico whose career spanned over 13 years from 1998 to 2011. In his career, Leyva fought a total of 43 fights, winning 27 and losing 15 with one draw and no contests.

Leyva was a knockout specialist, winning 21 of his fights by a knockout. His first professional fight was against Jose Luis Araiza, which he won via 3rd round TKO at the age of 18. After his debut, he went on to win 18 consecutive fights, registering 16 stoppages.

Leyva had his first world title fight in 2001, at the age of 21, against Daniel Reyes for the strawweight IBF (vacant) title. He defeated Reyes via a 12-round unanimous decision, becoming the strawweight champion of the world. He retired from professional boxing with a record of 27-15-1, including 21 knockout wins and nine losses via knockout, with one title win. He did not, however, have any title defenses or title-fight KO wins in his professional career.

Throughout his career, Leyva faced some of the most talented boxers and established himself as a fierce competitor in the ring. He defeated Francisco Soto, Marino Montiel, Fred Heberto Valdez, Omar Soriano, Víctor Burgos, Lorenzo Trejo, and Daniel Reyes.

Leyva, unfortunately, also faced his share of losses, where he suffered 15 defeats in his career, with five of them in title bouts and ten in non-title fights. He suffered his first defeat against Miguel Barrera via a 12-round unanimous decision on August 9, 2002. This loss broke his 21-fight winning streak. He lost six times via a verdict, and nine times due to knockouts.

Leyva's last fight was a non-title bout against Puerto Rican boxer Wilfredo Vázquez Jr. on October 29, 2011. Unfortunately, Leyva lost via a 3rd round KO. It's been 11 years, 5 months, and 2 days since this event.

Retiring from professional boxing, Roberto Carlos Leyva can be acknowledged as a talented and skilled boxer, who made an impressive contribution to the sport during his career. Despite having a relatively short career compared to some of his peers, he left a positive influence on the sport and will always be remembered by the fans around the world who watched him compete in the ring.
