Steve Collins, a former professional boxer, had a successful career that spanned more than 10 years. He made his professional debut in 1986 against Julio Mercado, defeating Mercado via third-round KO. He continued his winning streak by winning 15 consecutive fights, including 5 via stoppage.
In 1990, Collins had his first world title fight at the age of 25 against Mike McCallum for the WBA title. Unfortunately, he lost to McCallum via 12 round unanimous decision, which marked his first defeat in his career. However, Collins never gave up and went on to win three world titles at two weight classes, including the WBA middleweight title, the WBO middleweight title, and the WBO super-middleweight title.

He continued his successful defense by winning against Nigel Benn in July 1996 with a 4th round TKO and then in November of that same year with a 6th round RTD. Collins also successfully defended his title against Frederic Seillier in February 1997, winning via 5th round TKO. The last professional fight of his career was a super-middleweight title defense bout against Craig Cummings in July 1997, which he won via 3rd round TKO.
