Carlos Palomino is a Mexican former professional boxer born on August 10, 1949 in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, Mexico. His professional career spanned more than 25 years, from 1972 to 1998, and in that time, he fought in a total of 38 matches.
Palomino has 31 wins, four losses, three draws, and no no-contests in his professional boxing career. He has won 19 fights by knockout, and has two total title wins with seven title defenses. Furthermore, six of his title-fight KO wins have come from a total of 38 matches. This impressive record has helped him gain a well-deserved spot in the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

A year later, on February 11, 1978, Palomino again defended his WBC and The Ring welterweight titles, this time against Ryu Sorimachi. He won the match via a 7th round KO, further cementing his status as one of the best welterweight boxers of his time.
