Lovemore N'dou, also known as "The Black Panther," is a former professional boxer who fought in the super-featherweight, lightweight, light-welterweight, welterweight, and light-middleweight weight classes. He was born on August 16, 1971, in Musina, South Africa, and began his boxing career at the age of sixteen. N'dou had a remarkable amateur career with a record of 66 wins and 2 losses, winning the South African championship title four years in a row. Due to the apartheid laws in South Africa, he couldn't compete internationally. N'dou made his professional debut in 1993 against Enoch Khuzwayo, and won via a point decision. He went on to win 5 more consecutive fights after his debut, including 2 knockout victories. N'dou had his first world title bout at the age of 35 on February 4, 2007, after his 53rd professional fight against Naoufel Ben Rabeh for the super-lightweight IBF (vacant) title. He defeated Rabeh via 11th round RTD to become the super-lightweight champion of the world. N'dou retired from professional boxing with a record of 49-13-2, including 31 knockout victories and one world title win. Despite having a successful career, N'dou had 13 losses in his professional boxing career after 64 fights, and two of them were in title bouts. All of his losses were via decision, and he was never stopped. One of his most notable victories was against Naoufel Ben Rabeh, where he won his first world title. In 2002, N'dou came to the US to fight and spar. After his fight with Junior Witter in 2005, he defended his IBF Pan Pacific Light Welterweight Title on four occasions, rising to the world IBF #1 Light Welterweight ranking at the start of 2007. That same year, he fought Naoufel Ben Rabeh for the super-lightweight IBF title and became the super-lightweight champion of the world, winning via 11th round RTD. His first world title defense was against Paul Malignaggi in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA, in June 2007, but it ended in a loss via point decision. N'dou stayed in the US after the bout, serving as the principal sparring partner for Floyd Mayweather in his bout against Ricky Hatton. He knocked out Rafael Ortiz in a stay-busy bout while waiting for a rematch with Malignaggi. Lovemore fought Malignaggi again on May 24, 2008. This tale was different from their first one, with Malignaggi doing more leading, and N'dou being more of a counter-puncher. According to CompuBox Punchstats, N'dou landed 23% of his punches, while Malignaggi connected with 17%. Malignaggi won the verdict, again via split decision, but the bout was extremely competitive. N'dou's last professional fight was a non-title bout against Gairy St. Clair on August 10, 2012, which he won via a unanimous decision. N'dou retired from professional boxing after that fight, with a record of 49-13-2, including 31 knockout victories and one world title win. After retiring from boxing, N'dou studied law at the University of Western Sydney and went on to set up a successful legal practice, Lovemore Lawyers. As of 2021, he is still practicing law. In conclusion, Lovemore N'dou is a former professional boxer who had a successful career in five different weight classes. He had a successful amateur career with a record of 66 wins and 2 losses, and won the South African championship title four years in a row. He won his first world title in 2007 defeating Naoufel Ben Rabeh for the super-lightweight IBF title. N'dou retired from professional boxing with a record of 49-13-2, which included 31 knockout victories and one world title win.
